Xander—a raging pyromaniac with a long history of repeated expulsions—finds himself attending the only private school in the area that accepts him. Already having a notorious reputation but an honest heart, lasting friendships have never been apart of his life, until he runs into Gabriel.
A disciplined academic and athlete, Gabe sees Xander as way out of his suffocating upper-class bubble, and the two quickly become close. In an attempt to escape the difficult reality of his home life, Gabe delves into self-destructive tendencies, jeopardizing his carefully planned future, and ultimately leading his family to drive Xander away.
Seven years later, they collide again when Xander unknowingly attempts to mug an intoxicated Gabe. After a devastating gambling loss, no job, and an estranged family, Gabe is forced to move in with Xander, only to be coerced into his vindictive criminal schemes.
